The Welcome Back Project

4th April, 2025

January – March 2022

In 2022 Blystra Arts was awarded funding from Hall for Cornwall to deliver the Welcome Back fund across Newquay from Jan to March 2022. Wholly funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the programme was about celebrating the unique selling points and cultural heritage of those towns taking part: Bodmin, Camelford, Hayle, Helston, Launceston, Liskeard, Mevagissey, Newquay, St Austell and Wadebridge. In Newquay Blystra Arts used the funding to support various culture and community organisations to deliver workshops at activities in the town centre. Partners included in this project were, Newquay Museum, Newquay Marine Group, Youth Art Connect, Seed Yoga, Lele’s Outdoor Adventure, Urban Celt (The Celtic Lounge), SproutSpoken, Imagine Outdoors and our own project, Powered Up. In this project we also hosted three new outdoor commissioned performance pieces from Falmouth University across Newquay.
