Following the success of the 2024 and 2025 Lantern Parades which happened down in the picturesque Trenance Valley we’re now looking forward to the third Newquay Lantern Parade and Trenance Cottages Lights Switch On event which is set to return on Friday 20th November from 5.30pm. This year is slightly different as Newquay BID and Newquay Town Council will take on the management of the schools activity, while Blystra Arts will concentrate on the community aspects of the event, running their ever popular, Community Lantern Making Workshop and adding in an Adult Lantern Making Workshop for 2026 too.
Ellen Moule, Blystra Director said:
“With support from this year’s business partners, Wax Events and The Atlantic Hotel we’ll once again be offering a free Community Lantern Making Workshop, happening on 16th November from 10.30am – 3pm at the CSpace in Newquay. Families are welcome to join us on the day to have a go at making a willow lantern and then joining us at the Parade on the 20th Nov to parade their amazing creations. At last year’s workshop we had almost 100 people through the door and some incredible, inventive lanterns were made. We can’t wait to see what our creative community come up with this Nov.”
In 2026 Blystra Arts will also be offering an Adult Lantern Making Workshop too. This session will be an hour longer, and will allow anyone over 16+ to make bigger lanterns.
The adult workshop will be happening on Thurs 19th Nov from 5.30pm – 9.30pm at CSpace in Newquay. Cost of the session will be £15 for 4 hours, and will be more of a guided workshop with less people, so creative adults in the community can really get stuck in to creating something spectacular for the parade.
The parade itself is happening on 20th Nov from 5.30pm to 7pm and is now firmly lodged in to Newquay’s annual events calendar, kicking off a series of townwide festive events happening throughout Nov and Dec 2026.

This year’s parade and activity has been made possible with support from our business sponsors, Wax Events and The Atlantic Hotel, as well as Newquay BID and Newquay Town Council.
