It was a privilege to be asked to deliver an audio version of a new book by Helen Trevaskis. ‘Hope for Cornwall’ is a book created by Homes for Cornwall, a collaboration of influential individuals who want to see the housing crisis in Cornwall tackled. The book is beautifully written and illustrated by Helen with the aim of raising awareness around Cornwall’s housing crisis. It’s a subject close to our hearts with Blystra technician, Dave having previously worked for homelessness charity St Petrocs and Blystra Arts delivering a theatrical piece at a St Petrocs event in 2018.
There were many different voices featuring in the book, so we asked professional actor Jenny Beare, members of Cornwall Youth Theatre Company and members of the local community to lend their voices to the project which meant we had hundreds of audio files to fit together. It came together very quickly though, and we were incredibly pleased with the final production.
The audio version of the book was played at an exhibition for the illustrations in the book at Falmouth Poly and has since been uploaded to Helen’s website.
