An Inspiring Career Event for Young People and the Community
Friday 16th May 2025 – Newquay Community Orchard will be the place to be for an exciting and dynamic event, Empowering Newquay’s Future, designed to inspire and connect young people and the wider community with local businesses, career opportunities, and future pathways.
The event, running from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM, will showcase the breadth and diversity of Newquay’s business landscape. From 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, students from Treviglas Academy and Newquay Tretherras School will explore interactive workshops, hands-on activities, and engaging demonstrations led by local employers. From 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM, the event will open to the general public, inviting everyone to discover the career opportunities available in their community.
Unlike traditional careers fairs, Empowering Newquay’s Future goes beyond static displays. Attendees will experience a truly engaging event where businesses and self-employed individuals can:
- Showcase their workplaces and industries through interactive activities.
- Highlight their culture, values, and benefits as employers of choice.
- Inspire the next generation by sharing career stories and hands-on opportunities.
Newquay Orchard will host the event, which ensures it’s right at the heart of the community and the fact they are a ‘Diversity to Thrive’ partner ensures this event will also offer support to students with additional needs, raising awareness of the barriers to employment.
“We’re thrilled to host this one-of-a-kind event in Newquay,” said Liz Wright, Town Councillor for Porth and Tretherras and driving force behind the event. “This is more than a careers fair—it’s a chance for local businesses and self-employed individuals to connect with young people in meaningful ways and help shape the future entrepreneurs of our community and showcase what Newquay has to offer”
On the 7th of March Liz will be running an informal advice session for businesses who want to find out more about the event at Newquay Orchard in the large meeting room from 10am to 1pm. Please contact Liz at liz.wright@newquaycouncil.co.uk to book a slot or just drop in on the day to have a chat.
