In 2022 Blystra Arts took on the running of Cornwall Youth Theatre Company (CYTC). The group took a break in 2020/2021 due to the Covid 19 pandemic, and Jackie and Dave who had run the company for 38 years decided that they wanted to step down in 2022, which is when Blystra Arts took up the mantle. As a past CYTC member and an Associate Director of CYTC, Ellen, the Blystra Arts Artistic Director, knew the company inside out and is passionate about delivering it in the same style and with the same ethos as before. Ellen is also the daughter of Jackie Moule, the CYTC designer, which meant the company is a family business, with the original ethos remaining the same.

Since Blystra Arts took over the company they have done a version of Lord of the Flies, Cornish Tales (three tales of Cornwall’s past) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We have worked with 4 Associate directors since 2022 (Andy Blake, Colin Leggo, Shazz Andrew and Ellen Moule) and delivered multiple skills sessions. In the next phase of CYTC, Blystra Arts wants to introduce some summer skills workshops and summer performance opportunities and also offer regular drama sessions for younger children too.
