Get Creative Newquay
Before the pandemic we hosted Get Creative Newquay – here is what it was all about…
Come along and join a variety of creative workshops running across Newquay for 2019.
Get Creative Newquay is 12 months of creative community workshops that will run once a month at various venues/locations.
Workshops will include visual arts, craft, dance and creative movement, music and singing, outdoor activities and everything in between.
The workshops are funded and supported by Cornwall Community Foundation, RAF St Mawgan, Newquay Lions, Newquay Community Orchard.
Blystra Arts will once again be joining the carnival parade with a specially made large scale puppet. This year it will be Morgawr, (‘sea giant‘ in Cornish) who according to Cornish folklore is a serpent-like creature who lives in the sea near Falmouth Bay, however on 6th July, Morgawr will be parading through Newquay.
You can join the fun and walk with Morgawr and the Blystra Arts team, but in order to get festival ready you need to come and join our ‘Get Creative Newquay’ workshop on Saturday 29th June at Newquay Community Orchard. Drop in any time between 11am and 3pm and make a mask or headdress to wear, or make a sea creature or fish to carry.
We will be making all the creations out of recycled materials like empty plastic bottles or food containers. Blystra Arts will have a selection to choose from but why not collect your own and bring from home instead of putting them in the recycling, clean and ready to paint or chop up and get creative.
